Chairman
Sean Melnick was appointed Chairman of Stenham in April 2008. He is also Executive Chairman and co-founder of Peregrine Holdings, a wealth and asset management company listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange, which acquired a 51% controlling interest in Stenham with effect from 4 April 2008.
Peregrine’s South African operations include Peregrine Capital, South Africa’s oldest and most successful hedge fund management company, Peregrine Securities, one of the country’s foremost derivative, equity and prime broking operations and Citadel, a leading high net worth South African wealth management company. With the acquisition of Stenham, the Peregrine group’s worldwide assets under management now exceed US$ 10 billion.
Prior to leaving Investec Bank in Johannesburg to co-found Peregrine in 1996, Sean worked at Liberty Asset Management (now Stanlib) from 1992 to 1995 in both a portfolio management and derivative structuring capacity.
Sean has an Honours degree in Commerce from the University of the Witwatersrand in Johannesburg and is a CFA charter holder.
